Managing your UnitedHealthcare member account is central to getting the most out of your health plan. Below you'll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about creating and accessing your account, recovering lost credentials, updating your profile, and more. If your question isn't covered here, Member Services is available at the number on the back of your card.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How do I create a UHC member account?">
    To create a UHC member account, visit [activate.uhc.com](https://activate.uhc.com) and click **Register** or **Create Account**. You'll be prompted to enter your Member ID, date of birth, and ZIP code. From there, you'll create a **HealthSafe ID** — a username and password that gives you access to all UHC digital services. You'll also need to verify your email address to complete registration. Once set up, you can use the same credentials to sign in on the website and mobile app.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I forgot my username — how do I recover it?">
    On the sign-in page at [activate.uhc.com](https://activate.uhc.com), click **Forgot Username**. You'll be asked to enter the email address associated with your account. UHC will send a message to that address containing your username. If you no longer have access to your registered email, contact Member Services to update your account information and recover your username with agent assistance.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I reset my password?">
    Click **Forgot Password** on the sign-in page. Enter your username and follow the prompts to receive a password reset link via your registered email address. The link is valid for a limited time, so complete the reset promptly. When creating a new password, use at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols for best security. If you're locked out of your account due to too many failed attempts, wait 30 minutes and try again, or contact Member Services.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is HealthSafe ID?">
    **HealthSafe ID** is UnitedHealthcare's single sign-on credential system. It gives you one secure username and password to access all UHC digital properties, including the member portal, the mobile app, and certain partner platforms. If you had a previous UHC account, you may have been automatically migrated to HealthSafe ID. Your HealthSafe ID is tied to your email address and can be managed at [healthsafeid.uhc.com](https://healthsafeid.uhc.com).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I update my contact information?">
    Sign in to your account at [activate.uhc.com](https://activate.uhc.com), then navigate to **Profile** or **Account Settings**. From there, you can update your email address, mailing address, and phone number. Note that some information — such as your legal name or plan enrollment address — may need to be updated directly through your employer's HR system or by contacting Member Services, as it is tied to your plan records rather than your online profile.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I access my account on mobile?">
    Yes. Download the **UnitedHealthcare** app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and sign in with your HealthSafe ID credentials. The app provides full access to your member ID card, benefits summary, claims history, and account settings. You can also use a mobile web browser to visit [activate.uhc.com](https://activate.uhc.com) directly, though the dedicated app offers the best mobile experience.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I view or download my member ID card?">
    After signing in, navigate to **My ID Card** in the main menu. You can view your digital member ID card on-screen, download it as a PDF, or add it directly to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for easy access at provider visits. If you need a physical replacement card, you can request one through the portal under **My ID Card → Request Replacement Card**, or by calling the Member Services number on your current card.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why can't I log in?">
    Common reasons for login issues include an incorrect username or password, an account that has been temporarily locked after multiple failed attempts, or a browser that has cached outdated credentials. Try the following steps: (1) use **Forgot Password** to reset your credentials, (2) clear your browser's cache and cookies, (3) try a different browser or device, (4) disable any browser extensions that may interfere with the login page. If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact Member Services for assistance.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I add a dependent to my account?">
    If a dependent (such as a child or spouse) is already enrolled on your health plan, they can be linked to your online account. Sign in and go to **Profile → Manage Dependents** or **Family Access**. You may be prompted to enter the dependent's Member ID and date of birth to verify their enrollment. Note that adding a dependent to your digital account does not enroll them in your health plan — plan enrollment changes must go through your employer or UHC Member Services.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I set up paperless statements?">
    Sign in to your account and navigate to **Profile → Communication Preferences** or **Paperless Settings**. Toggle the option to receive your **Explanation of Benefits (EOB)** and other plan documents electronically instead of by mail. You'll receive email notifications when new documents are available. Going paperless is the fastest way to receive your benefit statements and helps keep your sensitive health information out of your physical mailbox.
