Your UnitedHealthcare Health Care Card is the key to accessing your health plan benefits — but before you can use it, you'll need to activate it. Activation only takes a few minutes and confirms that the card is in your hands. Whether you prefer to do things online, on your phone, or over the phone, UHC gives you three easy ways to get your card up and running.

## Before You Begin

Before starting, locate your new UHC Health Care Card. You'll find your Member ID number, group number, and the customer service phone number printed directly on the card. Keep these details handy — you'll need them during the activation process.

<Warning>
  Never share your Member ID, card number, or personal account credentials with anyone who contacts you unsolicited. UnitedHealthcare will never ask for your full Social Security Number or payment information to activate your card. If something feels off, call the number on the back of your card directly.

If you're always on the go, the **UnitedHealthcare mobile app** is a great way to activate your card and manage your benefits from anywhere.

1. Download the **UnitedHealthcare app** from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com) or [Google Play](https://play.google.com).
2. Open the app and sign in with your myuhc.com credentials — or create a new account if you haven't already.
3. Navigate to **"My Plan"** or **"My Coverage"** from the home screen.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to activate your new card.

The app also lets you view your digital ID card, check claim status, find in-network providers, and review your Explanation of Benefits — all in one place.
